Abstract Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) spectroscopy of metallic nanoparticles is a powerful technique for chemical and biological sensing experiments. Moreover, the LSPR is responsible for the electromagnetic-field enhancement that leads to surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and other surface-enhanced spectroscopic processes.

The endface of an optical fiber was first aminosilylated and then condensed with α-lipoic acid containing a dithiol group. Second, gold nanoparticles were immobilized onto the endface via an Au–S covalent bond. The sensor based on localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of metallic nanoparticles is also be summarized. Because of the coupling of propagating surface plasmons and localized surface plasmons, the localized electromagnetic field is extremely enhanced, which is applied to surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and fluorenscence enhancement. The AuNPs and PVA-AgNPs are used to initiate the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) phenomenon on the application of exponentially decaying evanescent waves.

The separation of negative diffraction order and positive diffraction order is Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) is a unique optical surface sensing technique that is responsive to refractive index changes that occur within the vicinity of a sensor surface. Thus, LSPR can be used to monitor any physical phenomenon which alters the refractive index at the surface of nanoparticles and has grown into a versatile technique used in variety of applications. LSPR : localized surface plasmon resonance Localized surface plasmon: a photon-driven coherent oscillation of the surface conduction electrons in a material with negative real and near-zero imaginary dielectric constant SERS : surface-enhanced Raman scattering INTRODUCTION Materials that possess a negative real and small positive imaginary dielectric constant are capable of supporting a surface plasmon resonance (SPR). This video explains what Surface Plasmon Resonance technology is, how it is used to detect small molecules and their interaction with other proteins. For more Localized surface plasmon resonance is generated by metal nanoparticles, typically gold and silver, as compared to a continuous film of gold as used in traditional SPR. LSPR produces a strong resonance absorbance peak in the visible range of light, with its position being highly sensitive to the local refractive index surrounding the particle.
